2) both obviously think amanpour, and the u.s. in general, are excessively inquisitive on the issue of relations
Kashmir is a gold mine for both militaries. It will never go away so long as there are two militaries to profit from the conflict therein. The alleged conflict between India and Pakistan is more of an elegant ballet in the minds of the pubpol elites, with both military/foreign-inteligence establishments taking turns dipping the other dangerously enough to get lots of cash, but not dangerously enough to have to actually commit to war.
War is a waste of money, and it won't happen unless the populace demands it. Until then, both sides are happy to roll in cash a la Scrooge McDuck and scream at each other, then secretly be perfectly cordial and polite when away from the public's eye.
